A celebration of disability cricket
The home of cricket witnessed the presentation of awards to three inspiring individuals who take part in our national disability cricket programmes this week.
Elliot Wembridge, George Hiley and James Grindrod were the three participants who were presented with their trophies on the night by comedian and host of channel 4’s The Last Leg, Adam Hills.
They got this much deserved recognition on the back of their achievements in the past year which include; coming out of their shell and helping others at their Super 1s hub, providing support for fellow participants in lockdown through coaching videos and completing a coaching qualification to teach table cricket in schools, and coming through the Super 1s programme, then going on to find full time employment.
The award winners between them showcase the development that can be made by young people living with disabilities through involvement with the programme, and we continue to be so grateful for the support of our partners The Berkeley Foundation, the ECB and all the county boards involved for helping us make Super 1s and Table Cricket available to those who need it.
