Please note:
Completed applications are processed in batches approx every 4-6 weeks. A list of applicants is compiled and sent to The Lord's Taverners Cricket Giving Committee for approval. Only after approval has been granted, can applicants be notified, in writing, of the decision.

It is at this stage that details of successful applicants are published on the website and the equipment order is placed with the manufacturers. Delivery usually takes place within 4-6 weeks of approval. Therefore, the whole process can take around 3-4 months.

Grant aid statement regarding 'Chance to Shine'

Our aim is to give as many young people as possible a sporting chance and, therefore, our limited resources need to be distributed as widely and as fairly as possible.

We have already agreed to give £1million over a five-year period to support the Chance to shine campaign.

After lengthy discussions between The Lord’s Taverners and Chance to shine, it has been agreed that any clubs and schools taking part in the Chance to shine programme will not be eligible to apply to either The Lord’s Taverners Cricket Equipment Scheme or the Grant Aid Scheme for Non-Turf Pitches / Batting Ends / Nets.

Non-turf pitch grants - 2009 scheme

Applications can be made for grants towards the installation of non-turf pitches, practice ends and nets. Awards do not normally exceed the following levels:
  • Non-turf match pitch - £3,000
  • Non-turf practice - £2,000
  • Outdoor nets - £1,000

The Lord's Taverners Grant Aid - NTPs / Ends / Nets Scheme is now closed as it has been oversubscribed and has assisted 120 clubs / schools to fund projects worth approx £1.57m. The scheme will re open in October 2010.

CitiCricket

CitiCricket was initially set up by Channel 4 in 2000 under the name of Street Cricket with the objective of giving children in deprived city areas the opportunity to experience the benefits of playing junior cricket.

The Lord’s Taverners began its support of the project in 2002 and the following year took over the funding of the programme. In the summer of 2008 the project was re-launched under the name of CitiCricket to reflect the initiatives’ core objectives.

The Lord’s Taverners has invested over £250,000 since becoming involved with the scheme, which has seen over 10,000 boys and girls benefit from being introduced to junior cricket. Many of these youngsters have gone on to play with local clubs, which have been formed as a result of CitiCricket.

Such is the popularity of the scheme, it is now present in eight counties including Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Leicestershire & Rutland and Oxfordshire.

Funding for other cricket projects

Exceptionally, grants are steered towards major projects designed primarily to assist in the furtherance of youth and junior cricket. For further details please contact our Cricket Administrator Richard Anstey on 020 7821 2828 on either a Tuesday or Thursday.

Applications will be considered for grants toward the cost of youth cricket festivals / tournaments / regional competitions and for youth special coaching schemes.

Grants towards refreshments, trophies, overseas tours, clothing or individual / team sponsorship are not available.  We do not support projects aimed at excellence or the elite level of cricket.
