Half-Term Programme Activity
During the most recent February half-term, our inclusive cricket programmes saw a host of cricket festivals, workshops and new experiences take place up and down the country, showcasing the power of sport.
In Southampton, we hosted our annual 'Wicketz in the Dark' event (glow in the dark cricket). Southampton Wicketz, in conjunction with the Hampshire Cricket Board, ran four sessions across two days reaching 105 young people, including a record high of 44 in the girls only session.

Table Cricket County Finals were in full-swing across the country as the official 'Road to Lord's' got underway.
Cornwall Cricket had six teams competing in their County Finals, which concluded with an exciting showdown between two Saltash schools. It was a thrilling match, with Brunel narrowly defeating Saltash 271-262 to become this year's county champions. Brunel will now go on to represent Cornwall at the South West Regional Finals. A huge well done to everyone who took part! Here are some words from the winning team members:
"I love table cricket because it is a sport for everyone." – Max, Year 4
"Thank you for teaching me table cricket. I loved learning a new sport and developing new skills." – Dan, Year 4
"Playing against different schools was so much fun, and winning was an amazing experience!" – Evie, Year 6

The Derbyshire Cricket Foundation hosted a collaborative festival between Super 1s, Wicketz and Chance to Shine Street on Wednesday 19 February at Willows Sports Centre in Derby, with over 30 young people from across the three programmes coming together for a day of cricket and workshops.
Derbyshire Fire Service and St John’s Ambulance delivered some invaluable workshops on the day, with participants having the opportunity to experience being in an ambulance and fire engine whilst learning about the importance of the jobs that paramedics and firefighters do.
The day was all brought together with some friendly cricket games, integrating participants from all programmes to play alongside new teammates.

The Bristol Wicketz project welcomed participants from across Devon to take part in a day of friendly competition at the BOLA batting centre and tour of the Bristol Aerospace Museum.
The chance to take part in a day of cricket and visit Bristol’s famous Aerospace Museum, was not to be missed, with young people stepping onto Concorde for the first time and exploring how materials are used in the aerospace industry during an interactive workshop.
You can read more about the day on the Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation website, here.
