Somerset County Cricketers Surprise Super 1s participant
Somerset County Cricket Club recently launched their ‘Somerset Dreams’ initiative that gives a helping hand to those in need, in the first instalment of the series, they follow the story of Fin McKay, Somerset Super 1s participant, who has recently had his life changed through our Super 1s programme.
Having been born with severe learning difficulties, Fin and his family struggled during the early stages of his childhood to find him a place where he was comfortable in an environment where he wasn’t seen as ‘different’ to other people his age.
He then found the Somerset Cricket Foundation Super 1s.
On the back of his time spent with Super 1s at Somerset, Fin, was given a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet some of his heroes at the Cooper Associates County Ground.
Thanks to SCCC sponsor WPA, Fin was surprised by a visit from Tom Abell, Craig Overton and Jack Leach, before joining them for a net session on the pitch at the CACG.
Additionally, Fin was provided with an exclusive invitation to the first ever Disability Showcase game at Lord’s, and WPA gifted Fin and his family tickets to watch an England Test Match at the Kia Oval this summer.
Fin, is one of many beneficiaries of the successful Somerset Dreams initiative, which continues to empower young people across the Southwest.
