Sun, sand and sixes: YCF's Scarborough beach days

Yorkshire Cricket Foundation (YCF)'s annual Scarborough beach days took place in early August with participants from our Hull and Bradford Wicketz hubs travelling to the North Yorkshire seaside town.

Many via train, specifically the Northen Rail service, who kindly supported YCF and Wicketz projects by supplying tickets and the opportunity to use the service from their cities.

Both days included a tournament on the beach, where Wicketz participants played against other cricket projects from YCF, giving the young people the opportunity to meet others from different cities and backgrounds.

Lunch was kindly provided by the supermarket Morrisons, who on both days, supplied a packed lunch and water to all taking part. Once the tournament was over, all groups headed up to Scarborough Cricket Ground to watch Yorkshire play in the One Day Cup. Tickets again, kindly provided by Yorkshire County Cricket Club, which for many, was their first time witnessing a live professional game. The groups then started to head back home, those getting the train where met by the northern mascot and a member of staff, who provided the participants with train safety information and for the older ones, a quick insight into a potential career on the train service.
