Wicketz and Super 1s participants celebrate an amazing year of community cricket
The Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation’s community awards presentation celebrated the achievements of participants from their programmes, including Wicketz and Super 1s. Held at City Academy in Bristol, the event highlighted the dedication and progress of young people in these programs, which focus on promoting social skills, teamwork, and physical activity through cricket.
Participants received recognition for their hard work, commitment, and positive impact within their communities. Awards were presented in various categories, such as Rising Star, Unsung Hero, Game Changer, Inspire to Play and Growing the Game, showcasing the diverse talents and contributions of each individual. The atmosphere was filled with pride and encouragement, with speeches from programme leaders including Jeanette Tate – Super 1s and Wilf Brooke - Wicketz, emphasising the importance of community support and personal growth.
The format of the day included three age group competitions and life-skill workshops delivered on online safety. The online safety workshop focused on equipping participants with essential knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world securely. Covering topics such as privacy settings, recognising online threats, and safe social media practices. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about potential risks and empower individuals to protect themselves and their information.
