Yorkshire Wicketz projects unite for a day in Hull
In early November, the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation (YCF) orchestrated a day out for their Leeds, Bradford and Hull Wicketz participants in Hull.
Thanks to support from their partners, Northern Rail, 18 young cricket enthusiasts, including nine from the YCF Leeds 'Enjoy Cricket' programme, hopped on a train from Leeds to Hull, many of them, for the first time.
The day kicked off at the University campus in Hull, where the participants, alongside Hull Wicketz participants led by Richard Robinson, engaged in a round-robin indoor cricket tournament. They also attended a dental hygiene workshop, followed by a pizza feast and trophy presentation for the tournament winners.
Wicketz Development Officer, Matty Crookes shared his excitement, stating: "It was fantastic for our Yorkshire Wicketz projects and Enjoy Cricket to come together, offering young participants the chance to meet new friends, improve their cricket skills and knowledge, as well as visit a completely new place on the train for the first time."
This initiative not only provided a platform for cricket related activities but also allowed the young people involved to connect and share experiences.
